Dublin International secured their 4th All Ireland Championship in a row with a convincing 26-18 win over a gutsy DCU. DI HC took the lead from the start and never looked back. DCU had DI on the ropes narrowing the lead down to 3 goals, 19-16 but the experience of DI HC showed in the end. This means DI HC are undefeated for the last 4 years.

Dublin International HC off to a good start

Sunday 23rd of October 2011 saw a start of DI HC campaign in 2011/2012 Irish Handball Premier League. Astra HC was the opponent and Belfield was the venue.

With a heavy hearts for the prematurely lost handball great Iztok Puc, teams lined up hoping for a good launch of the league campaign. Strong defending from the start was the reason for unusual 0-0 score after more than four minutes. Kari Andresson then broke the deadlock and Dublin International boys took the matters under their control. Ten minutes later the score showed 7 – 3 to The Internationals. Astra HC fought well with their mix of experience and youth on the roster. Their chance came towards the end of the first half when Andresson a young Irish international earned himself two 2 minute suspensions in quick succession. Astra not only failed to capitalize, but went another goal down. DI HC went on a break with six goals lead. Second half was much of a same affair. Rhythm of the game dropped a bit and DI HC controlled the game till the end.

After 60 minutes the score board showed DI HC 33 – 21 Astra HC.

Andresson 12, Martinonis 8, Celko 5, Ciba 3, Grassl 3, Donner 2, Selak, Fredin (9)

Dublin International HC introduces 2011/2012 Team

Dublin International Handball Club started the preparation for the next season with mix of old and new players on this season’s roster. The team again gained some great players and some talents for the future and everyone is excited to see them in action. Only losses to the team are Jasmin Nukic whose work took him to Kuwait and Chris O’Reilly, whom we expected to rejoin the team after spending a year in UCD HC. Instead Chris accepted an offer of contract in Germany. Good Luck Chris and Jasmin! Back bone to the team remained mostly unchanged and the roster is almost finalized. Another keeper is a must and a lefty or two would not come astray. Read More
